Edwin Thomas “Ed” Brown, Sr.
DANVILLE – Edwin Thomas “Ed” Brown, Sr., 84, passed away Wednesday October 30, 2024, at his residence.
Services will be held Sunday November 3, 2024 at 3:00PM in Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Richland Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Charles Carter, Rev. Ken Land, Chaplain Hope Brown, Sheriff Darren Mitchum and Coroner Harold Reece, Jr., will officiate.
Mr. Brown was born in LaGrange, GA the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Brown and Myrtle Elizabeth Mathews Brown. He was preceded in death by his son, William Thomas Brown, granddaughter Alyssa Nichole Evans, brothers Wendell William Brown, Thomas J. “Jeff” Brown II, Gerald Lee Brown and Radford Perry Brown and by his brothers in love Jimmy Hatcher, James Touchton, Roswell Nichols, and David Nichols. “Ed” was the owner of Brown’s Garage in Macon and Brown’s Wrecker Service in Twiggs County. In 1978 “Ed” along with Deputy Sheriff Bobby Weekly saw a need for a Volunteer Rescue in Twiggs County, and they worked hard and formed the Twiggs County Rescue. He worked on vehicles and was friends with Phil Walden of Walden Recording Studios, the Allman Brothers Band, and The Marshall Tucker Band. “Ed” loved his community and was a true servant of God. He was a member of New Richland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Sherri Brown Johnson, Edwin T. “Tom” “Porkchop” Brown, Jr., Denise (Jeff) Goodman, Virginia (Timmy) Lee, and Hope Brown. Grandchildren: Matthew & Patricia Johnson, Amy & Chad Smith, Edwin T. "Trey" Brown III, Tony & Julie Garrett, Joshua & Miki Goodman, Jeffery Goodman, Phillip & Jordan Goodman, Duane Goodman, Nathan Brown, Alexander Brown, Brittany Dice. Great Grandchildren, William Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson, Hunter Smith, Cy Smith, Finn Smith, Mack Smith, Lizzy (Kalob) Garrett, Merisa Garrett, Shelby Pfister, Chase Goodman, Mila Goodman, Logan Goodman, Kaidyn Goodman, Penelope Dice. Great Great Grandchildren, Carson Smith, Stella Smith, John Willis, Kaizleigh Willis. Brother, Theron Wayne (Janice) Brown. Brothers in love, Danny (Delores) Touchton, Millard (Mary Alice) Houze, Buddy (Connie) Touchton. His Honorary Son, Joel (Cindy) Herring.
The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM in the funeral home before services.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of “Ed’s” son William T. Brown, to the Leukemia Society.
