He was preceded in death by his first wife, Merle Phillips Lavender, his parents, Agee Crosby Lavender and Ottis Benton Lavender; sister, Shirley Lavender Sykes, brothers, Ottis Benton Lavender, Jr. and Alva G. Lavender. Surviving immediate family includes sons: Phil [Clay Phillip] Lavender (Robin), John David Lavender (Carol), Jerry Ottis Lavender, Todd Crosby Lavender; grandchildren: Jesse Lavender (Samantha), Stuart Lavender (Tammy), Yvette Lavender-Burchfiel (Logan), Clay Lavender (Jessie), Candace Gibson (Michael), plus eleven great grandchildren. Wife, Joyce Lavender, currently resides in Sun City, Florida in an assisted living facility.

Mr. Lavender was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War era. The bulk of his work career was with Strietmann Biscuit Company in Macon, Ga., which later became Keebler (cookies). He worked until retirement as a machinist. For more than a decade he did double duty, also operating Lavender's TV Clinic in Jeffersonville.

He was a member of Jeffersonville Baptist church, but was active in many venues and in other churches entertaining with his guitar and singing voice into his eighties! He passed away only after a strong fight and just hours after visits by many of his family to his hospital bedside. The family thanks the Lord Jesus Christ, who now welcomes him into His Rest and Peace.
