Harold Reece, Sr. was born in 1924 to Jesse and Synthia (Ralston) Reece of Wilkinson County. After the death of his parents, he was
raised by his sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Frank Williams. Harold attended Wilkinson County Schools through mid 9th grade and
then transferred to Danville Schools to complete his education and graduated in 1942.
On October 9, 1942, Harold married Grace Chance of Twiggs County. He and Grace were married 65 years and had four children; Sue Ellen
(Herman), Brenda, Cherry (Richard), and Harold Jr. (Becky). They also have six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In March of 1943, Harold joined the Navy and served on the USS Leedstown in the South Pacific. During his service to his country he was
involved in six major battles; Kwajalein - Jan. 1944, Guam - July 1944, Paleliu - Sept. 1944, Leyte - Oct 1944, Luzon - Jan. 1945 and
Iwo Jima - Feb. 1945. Harold was discharged from the Navy in December of 1945.
Harold retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base in 1976, and was a retired Farmer. During his life he served five years on the Twiggs
County Board of Education, Sunday School Director for Mount Zion Baptist Church and an active Deacon of Mount Zion Baptist Church for
over 50 years. He was a member of Cool Spring Masonic Lodge #185 where he has served seven terms as Master and over 30 years as Secretary
and at the time of his death held the title of Secretary Emeritus.
Harold was associated with Reece Funeral Home from 1990 to the time of his death, where he served as Vice President. He enjoyed reading
western novels and playing golf in his spare time.
Harold L. Reece, Jr.
Harold L. Reece, Jr. Harold L. Reece, Jr. is a life long resident of Twiggs County. He is the son of Harold L. Reece, Sr. and Grace
Chance Reece. Harold graduated from High School at Twiggs Academy in Jeffersonville. He graduated of Middle Georgia College with a degree
in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta. Harold is a licensed Funeral Director and
Embalmer. He has been associated with the funeral home since 1984 and has been a partner and owner since 1988. In 1994 he became sole
owner and changed the name to Reece Funeral Home.
In 1992 the citizens of Twiggs County elected him to serve as their Coroner, a position he still holds. Harold is a member of the
International Association of Coroner's and Medical Examiners, and was awarded national accreditation by this association in 2011.
In 2000 Harold, along with William "Micky" Couey of Moores Funeral Home in Milledgeville, GA and Richard N. Stanley of Stanley Funeral
Home in Dublin, GA, opened Couey - Reece - Stanley Funeral Home in Gordon, Georgia, serving families in Wilkinson and surrounding counties.
Harold is a member and past board member of Independent Funeral Directors of Georgia and is a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia. He is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon. He is a member and Past Master of Cool Spring Masonic Lodge. Harold is married to the former Rebecca "Becky" Keene and they make their home just outside the city of Danville, GA.
John C. "Straw" Faulk, Sr.
John, or "Straw" a nickname he picked up as a child, was born March 25, 1937 in Twiggs County, GA the son of John S. and Ruby P. Faulk. The oldest of Four children with three younger sisters. He graduated High School at Twiggs County High in 1955.
John was married to Joyce Bailey Faulk in 1958 in Jeffersonville, GA, and they have two children, Rebecca Faulk Akins (Bruce) and Buddy Faulk (Traci). "Straw" and Joyce have four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is a member of the Jeffersonville Church of God, where he has been a Sunday School Teacher for many years and a member of the Pastors Council along with many other functions of the church. He is a former member of New Richland Baptist Church where was raised.
"Straw" is retired from Armstrong World Industries where he was a general supervisor.
Charles W. Logsdon
Charles W. Logsdon, was born in 1942 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School and Bethel College with a AA Degree in Business Administration.
Charlie is a resident of Jeffersonville and has been married to Yvonne Taylor Logsdon for thirty eight years. They have one Son; Rev. Duane Logsdon , his wife Jennifer and Grandchildren, Jonathan and Anna.
Charlie is retired from the Four County Bank in Allentown, GA. His prior employment includes, the U.S. Army, positions at FortCampbell, KY and Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins. He is a former employee of Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA.
He attends the Jeffersonville Baptist Church. Charlie enjoys watching sports, bike riding and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Juanita Floyd Austin
Juanita Floyd Austin was born in Macon, GA, the daughter of Margaret Howell Slaton and the late Matthew G. Floyd.
Juanita has resided with her husband Wayne, in Twiggs County for the past thirty years. They have been married for forty years, and have been blessed with two wonderful children, Keith Austin (Laura) and Amanda McDaniel (Jamie), as well as four Grandchildren.
Mrs. Austin retired as Director of the Twiggs County Department of Family and Children Services in 1997 following 34 years of creditable service with the State of Georgia. After retirement she began her employment with Reece Funeral Home and the Twigs County Family Connections.
Juanita is active with her church, Mount Zion Baptist Church, and served many years as Clerk. She is very involved in activities within the community serving on many committees and boards such as Communities in Schools, Partners for Progress, Child Fatality Review Board,Twiggs Leadership, Inc., School Safety Review Board and Oconee EMC Board nominating committee.
Lavern "Bunnie" Hamrick Chance
Lavern "Bunnie" Hamrick Chance was born in Dublin, GA. She is the daughter of Mr. W.E. "Billy" Hamrick, Jr. and the late Elmina Bozeman Hamrick. The Granddaughter of the late W.E. "Earl" Hamrick, Sr. and the late Lois Johnson Hamrick.
Bunnie lives in Twiggs County with her husband of 30 years Ricky Chance. They have three children; Christina Chance Thompson (T.G.), Laurie Chance, and Jody Chance. Three wonderful grandchildren; Caitlin, Landon, and Claire Thompson.
Bunnie worked for 10 years with J.M. Huber Corp, before opening her own business for Pet Grooming. She now does volunteer work for the Middle Georgia Humane Society, fostering dogs and helping find homes for them. She has been associated with Reece Funeral Home for two years.
