Austin Wayne Lewis DANVILLE, GA - Austin Wayne Lewis, 67, died Monday evening, November 5th while under watchful care at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta following a brief illness. His beloved and devoted spouse, Hank Little was at his side. Austin was born June 19, 1951 in Baxley, Georgia and was a resident of Danville, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the aircraft carrier, USS John F. Kennedy and worked as a Phlebotomist Team Leader with Lab Corp. In recent years Austin was part of the very fabric of Centenary United Methodist Church and loved to share the story of his church family. He was a community maker and the consummate storyteller regaling us all with tales of life - humorous, insightful, poignant and wise. Armed with intellect, courage and a strong sense of identity, Austin was not shy about sharing his faith, politics, and his favorite recipes. His generosity was renowned, his compassion heartfelt, and his wit razor sharp. His storytelling was surpassed only by his capacity to listen intently and make meaningful connections. His journey remains an inspiration to us all, as we mourn his loss. His contagious and joyful laugh will remain with us forever. Austin was preceded in death by his parents Austin Calvin Lewis, Jr. and Sarepta Annie Stone Lewis and his brother, Ted Lewis, Sr. He is survived by his spouse, Hank Little, step-mother Thelma Lewis, brother Dr. Jack Lewis (Dr. Mary Lewis), and three sisters: Dorothy Watkins, Catherine (Gerald) Temperance, and Patty (Andrew) Pennington. A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday November 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Centenary United Methodist Church (1290 College Street, Macon) with visitation Friday, November 9, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Reece Funeral Home (15548 US Hwy 80, Jeffersonville, GA 31044).
