Edra S. Wrye
MACON – Mrs. Edra Smith Wrye passed away September 15, 2024 at her home after a long illness.
The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM Wednesday September 18, 2024 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Danville, GA, with services to follow. Burial will be at 3:00PM at El Bethel Baptist Church,1435 El Bethel Church Rd., Milan, GA 31060. Rev. Dwayne Bedingfield will officiate.
Mrs. Wrye was born in Claxton, GA the daughter of the late Daniel and Vera Waters Smith. She was the widow of the late John “Edward” Wrye and was preceded in death by her siblings, Erma Jean (Fred) Wall, Larry (Janis) Smith, and Audrey (Coy) Bennett. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1959 and the same year married the love of her life John Edward Wrye. They moved to Macon, GA soon after where she worked for 34 years and retired as an accountant from the Georgia Forestry Commission in 1998. Edra was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years prior to her illness.
Survivors include her daughters, Elaine (Chuck) Perkins, and Elise (Keith) Boyett. Her grandchildren, Brandon Perkins, Candice (Will) Slade, and Candler Boyett. One great grandson, Everette Slade and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express appreciation to her loving caregivers, Tracie Coulter, Heidi Bingham, Christie Zavala, and Genie Dukes.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4013 GA Hwy 358, Danville, GA 31017 or to the donor’s favorite charity.
