Gysgt Ret. Freddie Joe Morris JEFFERSONVILLE, GA – Gysgt, retired Freddie Joe Morris, 90, passed away Tuesday August 30, 2022. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Reece Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jerald Taylor and Rev. Kurt McCullough will be officiating. Mr. Morris was born in Thomaston, GA to the late Pastor John Henry Morris and Minnie Mae Cotney Morris. Mr. Morris is also preceded in death by his brothers, Carlton Morris and G.H. Morris; sisters, Mae Carvey and Sarah Morris; son in law, Charles Cannon. He was a retired Gunnery Sgt from the United States Marine Corp, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He received many awards during his time of service including 3 Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. Mr. Morris was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Assembly of God in Jeffersonville. He will be remembered by his family as a good husband and a great dad who loved to fish, read and buying for his grandchildren Survivors include his wife Hilda Morris, also known by Freddie as “Little Darling” ; children, Randy (Linda) Howell, Tilda (Bill) Lanfair, Robin (Ray) Brantley and Frankie Howell (Pam Lake); grandchildren, Rocky (Jeannette) Howell, Timothy (Kim) Howell, Troy (Holly) Cannon, Christy (Jonathan) Parrish, Alex (Chelsie) Cannon, Ryan Brantley, Taylor (Tevor)Williams and Dylan Howell; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; niece, Rosalyn Gary; two nephews Billy Carvey and Mike Morris; and fur baby Kia. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm before the service at the funeral home. Visit www.reecefuneralhomeinc.com to express tributes.
