Patricia Clement Cunard
January 28, 1937 - November 6, 2022
Patricia Clement Cunard passed away peacefully at home with her family on November 6, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward Albert Cunard, Jr and her son, Edward Albert Cunard, III.
Born in Mineral Bluff, Georgia on January 28, 1937 to the late Candler “Pete” Clement, Jr and the late Mary Ann Gresham Clement, the story of her birth began with “it was a dark and stormy night and the doctor had to come from neighboring Blue Ridge.” From her story book worthy entrance into the world until the day of her death, she was a determined and strong woman, mother, Nana, sister and friend who loved deeply those around her. Though born in Mineral Bluff, she grew up in Decatur, Georgia and graduated from Decatur High School where she was an accomplished member of the rifle team. After graduation, she worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company, showing her determination and exceptional intelligence by working her way up from entry level file clerk to Executive Secretary. In 1959, she married her husband of 60 years, Edward Albert Cunard, Jr and took on the role of homemaker, dedicating her time and talents to ensure the success and well-being of her family. She never missed an event either of her children were involved in and was often the loudest one in the cheering section! Ever social, she had a love of life and good company and her laugh was both distinctive and infectious. She could brighten a room with just her laugh; you couldn’t hear it and not find yourself laughing along with her. Much of her time in her later years was devoted to her grandchildren, finding ways to spend time with them and to conspire with her husband to indulge them in as many ways as possible. They will forever remember her phrases such as “do I need to call the men in the white coats” and “do you have a fever with that?” Mom, Nana, you will be missed.
Mrs. Cunard is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Cunard Copeman and her husband, Paul of Dudley, GA, her grandson-in-love Braxton Jefferson and his wife, Morgan of Spartanburg, SC, her granddaughters Carys and Kellan Copeman of Dudley, GA, her great-grandson-in-love, Sawyer Jefferson of Spartanburg, SC and her sister Rebecca Clement Merritt of Walnut Grove, GA.
