Shirley Williams Cannon

December 16, 1934 — May 14, 2020

Shirley W. Cannon Proverbs 31:26-29 26. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. 27. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29. “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Shirley Williams Cannon, a woman of valor with a servant’s heart. A doting daughter who honored her father and mother. A sister and friend to all. A mother who would sacrifice her very life. A wife of beauty and grace. And a grandmother who hung the moon, sun, and stars. There is no one like her, for she has “surpassed them all.” There is no measure to what she has poured out in one lifetime, always putting herself and her needs last. Anyone watching her life has truly been a witness to God’s beautiful handiwork. She embodied the very essence of grace, wisdom, and a love that was so great, it could only be traced back to an Almighty Creator and Savior. 1 John 4:19, “We love because He first loved us." She truly experienced and received the love of Jesus, because she was compelled to love her family and all people with the fervent love of Christ. We love her, because she first loved us.
