MACON – Wallace "Big Wallace" H. Newby, Sr., of Yukon Rd., passed away Monday in Macon.

Services will be held Thursday October 12, 2023 at 3:00PM in Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tim Peavy will officiate.

Mr. Newby was born in Danville, GA the son of the late George Newby and Mozelle Little Newby Phillips. He was the widow of the late Vera Jean Defore Newby and was preceded in death by his brother William Bradley Newby. Wallace was a retired Calsine Operator with Georgia Kaolin/DBK/Imerys. He was a member of the AFL-CIO and was the Union President at Dry Branch Kaolin for many years. Wallace was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include his Son, Wallace H. (Tracy) Newby, Jr.. Step-Daughter, Vickie Deason. Sisters, Patricia N. Kitchens, Rhonda H. (Bill) Hamrick, and Sondra N. Keys. Brothers, Frank Newby and Kenny (Cynthia) Newby. Grandchildren, Craig Deason, Megan (Tanner) Bernard, Caleb Newby, and Kinsley Newby. Great Grandchildren, Annslee (Rich) Kaplan, Lexee Deason, Addy Deason, Raeleigh Bernard, and Brooks Bernard. Several nieces and nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM Thursday afternoon before service in the funeral home.
