WENDELL STUCKEY

DANVILLE - Wendell B. Stuckey of 1862 Stuckey Rd. Danville, Ga. went to be with our Lord on February 15, 2025.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 2:00PM at Big Sandy Baptist Church. Bro. Jeff Shepherd, Bro. Harold Reece and Bro. Mike Kitchens will officiate.

Wendell was born in Wilkinson County where he was a lifelong resident. He is preceded in death by his parents Homer B. Stuckey and Myrtice Green Stuckey, son Wade Stuckey and sister Gwendolyn Toler.

Wendell proudly served in the U.S Air Force and never missed an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen about how proud he was to see his grandsons follow in his service footsteps. He was a dedicated employee of the Shepherd Family timber companies, where he was infamous for pulling a lowboy hauling heavy equipment and well-known as “Widowmaker” in truck #00. He was a member of the American Legion Post #253 and served on the Wilkinson County Farm Bureau Board, as a board member and then as Vice President. He and Charlene were previous owners of Stuckey’s Lake & RV Park. He was an avid NHRA and NASCAR fan and enjoyed helping others no matter what the task. He prided himself on teaching his children and grandchildren essential life skills and how to make anyone they encountered feel like longtime friends.

Wendell is survived by his wife of 36 years, Charlene Stuckey, who he would be quick to admit was the one who “kept him straight”. When they married in 1988, he became father to a daughter and a son, Darlene Nobles and Andy Johnson, who he never introduced as his stepkids, but as “my daughter” and “my son”. He has been abundantly blessed with 8 grandchildren: Ashley Nobles Watson, Mark (Heather) Johnson, Will Johnson, Jay (Bailey) Nobles, Robbie (Torri) Nobles, Skilynne Johnson, Travis Johnson and Kaelyn Johnson, who have gifted him with 3 great grandchildren: Logan Watson, Langston Stanley and Mark Anthony Johnson, Jr. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 at Reece Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
