DANVILLE – Alice Gillis Wright, 99, of Airport Rd. passed away Wednesday February 25, 2026 at her residence.

Services will be held Saturday February 28, 2026 at 2:00PM at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Dwayne Bedingfield will officiate.

Mrs. Wright was born in Glenwood, GA the daughter of the late Walter Haze Gillis and Clyde Day Gillis. She was the widow of the late George Wright and was preceded in death by her siblings Emmit Gillis, David Gillis, Jade Gillis, and Quinelle Derriso. “Miss” Alice enjoyed flowers and gardening. She could often be seen working in her yards and flower beds. She was the former owner of Alice’s Flower Shop and former employee of RAFB. Her greatest joy was her family and serving her Lord Jesus Christ which she did faithfully in many areas at her church Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Judy Wright (Gene) Mayo, James Dudley (June) Wright, and Guy Donald “Donnie” (Barbara) Wright. Her brother Grady Gillis. Her Six Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Grandchildren and Three Great Great Grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Saturday in the church before services.
