The dearly beloved Betty Jane Bryson Wimberly, 79, of Dry Branch, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Betty Jane was born in Dublin, Georgia, the daughter of the late Hugh Lovette Bryson and Christine Posey Bryson.

To those who knew her, she was a true ray of sunshine. Her smile could brighten any room, and her presence brought comfort to everyone fortunate enough to be near her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and maternal figure to many. Her love carried many generations of her family, and she made each person feel seen, cherished, and she brought out the best in all she encountered.

A pillar of her community, Betty Jane was a faithful member of Bridges of Hope and Restoration Church, where she served as an Associate Pastor. She lived her faith openly and gently, offering encouragement, prayer, and a listening ear to all who needed one.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Wimberly; her son, Ricky (Debbie) Wimberly; her daughters, Sheri (Richard) Kay and Tina (Cooper) Cook; her brother, Gene Bryson and her sister, Sara Bell Kitchens. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Carrie Mercer, Tiffany Mangham, Josh Wimberly, Bo Harris, Ryan Kay, Anna Blakley, Janey Maude, Sydney Cook, and Shelby Cook; thirteen great-grandchildren thirteen great-grandchildren, Brayden and Rylee Mercer, Alysson, Ansley, and Madelyn Mangham, Joseph and Zelda Wimberly, Dawson, Caleb, and Carter Harris, Archer Blakely, and August and Jasper Cook ; and a host of family and friends who loved her dearly.

Services will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Bridges of Hope and Restoration Church, with Rev. Loretta Faulk officiating. Burial will follow at New Haven Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 4:00PM before services in the church.
