COCHRAN – Brenda Joyce Murray Collett, 78, of Longstreet Rd., passed away Sunday August 3, 2025 in Macon.
Services will be held Thursday August 7, 2025 at 2:00PM at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Northview Cemetery in Dublin. Joe Mercer and Harold Reece. Jr. will officiate.
Brenda was born in Macon, Georgia on March 23, 1947 to the late Floyd Austin Murray and Frances Shostarich Murray. She attended Jeffersonville High School and graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Science in Logistics. She retired from Robins Air Force Base after over thirty years of admirable service in logistics management where she traveled the world. Following her retirement from RAFB she worked with AMRAAM (Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile) International Team for two years. She continued to travel and especially loved taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on trips. Brenda also enjoyed flowers and gardening. She had a lily garden for each grandchild where every flower variant contained their name. Brenda spent time watching birds and always made sure her bird feeders were full! More recently she enjoyed sharing hunting cameras with her sons, Clay and David, never letting them miss an animal that was at their stands! Brenda enjoyed spending time with her friends and family most of all. She always looked forward to her cousins meeting for lunch. Brenda had always enjoyed genealogy, specifically, following her grandfather's (Frank Shostarich) migration from Austria to the United States. Brenda enjoyed her friendships she made and spending time with old friends during her time living at At Home. You would often find Brenda and April out and about to “dilly dally”. She enjoyed going to listen and watch Gospel music concerts with her friends. Brenda loved and cared for her friends and family deeply. You would often hear her express how proud she was of “her boys”, Clay and David. If you have met her, you have probably heard her say “I love my boys”.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father Floyd Austin Murray, her mother Frances Shostarich Murray, her niece Christy Louise Dykes-Ellis, and her cousin and best friend Audrey Elaine “Sissy” Mercer Stone.
She is survived by her two sons; Clay (Sherry) Floyd and David (Lianne) Floyd, Grandchildren; Kyle (Erinn) Floyd, Tori Floyd, and Lainey Floyd, Great Grandchildren; Emily (Lawrence) Anderson, Rhett Floyd, Olivia Floyd, Connor Fleming, and Sam Wallace, Sister; Janice M. Payung, her beloved friend and caregiver; April L. Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday in the funeral home.
