Dr. John Robert "Bob" Cooper

Dr. John Robert Cooper ALLENTOWN – Dr. John Robert Cooper, 79, of Brookdale Dr., passed away Wednesday in Cochran. Graveside services will be held Sunday January 31, 2021 at 2:00PM at the Allentown City Cemetery. Rev. Jeffrey Alligood will officiate. Dr. Cooper was born in Calhoun, GA the son of the late John Morgan Cooper and Sarah Inez Suddeth Cooper. He was preceded in death by his children, Laura Andrew “Andi” Cooper Rowell and John Shelton (Josh) Cooper, his brother Herbert Morgan Cooper, sister Shirley Cooper Miller, Father and Mother in law, Shelton and Betty Goble, and sister in law Ann Goble Seegal. Dr. Cooper, graduated from Georgia Military Academy in College Park, GA in 1958, from Mercer University in 1967 and from Medical School in Cleveland Ohio in 1976. He practiced medicine in Mableton and Powder Springs, GA until he sold his practice and retired to Allentown, GA in 2005. He was a member of the Allentown United Methodist Church and was a lay delegate with the South Georgia Conference. He was a Volunteer Fireman and first responder with the Allentown Fire Department, and also served on the Allentown City Council where he was elected Mayor Pro tem. Bob played saxophone professionally in several bands and orchestras and had a beautiful baritone voice. He loved the Lord, his family, wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Earl Goble Cooper. Sister, Celia Cooper, Son in law, Jeffrey Mal (Melissa) Rowell, Daughter in law, Veronica Cooper (Mike) Bell. Grandchildren, Tiffany Rowell Bishop, Briggs Robert (Lauren) Rowell, John Addison (Jack) Cooper, Charlotte Marie Cooper, and Joseph Daeg Cooper.
