Earnest Gene “Ernie” Johnson

MACON - Earnest Gene “Ernie” Johnson, 59, of Sgoda Rd. passed away Sunday July 20, 2025 in Macon.

Services will be held Friday July 25, 2025 at 3:00pm in Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Cochran, GA. Rev. Jerry Peacock will officiate.

Mr. Johnson was born in Dublin, GA the son of the late Jim Henry Johnson and Betty Joyce Hendrix Johnson. He was preceded in death by his sister Sheila Johnson Loyd, and his brother Graylin Johnson. “Ernie” was a 1984 Graduate of Twiggs Academy and received a scholarship the play baseball at Brewton Parker College. He loved playing baseball, then softball as an adult. “Ernie” drove several different types of “Big Trucks” hauling dirt, rock, logs, and hazardous materials. He was a life long resident of Twiggs County and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather (Kyle) Brantley. His son, Bobby Wade Beard. His sister, Lynette Bivins. His granddaughter Olivia Brantley. Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM before service in the funeral home.
