George Emory Parker

Graveside funeral services for George Emory Parker, age 89 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 28, 2026 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Dwayne Bedingfield and Harold Reece, Jr. will officiate.

Mr. Parker was born April 12, 1937 in Milan, Georgia. He was the son of the late George Lee Parker and Pauline Cravey Parker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Pittman Parker; 2 sons, Christopher Darryl Parker and Steven Jeffery Parker, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was retired from Norfolk Southern. He spent many years taking care of his beloved childhood sweetheart and wife, Darlene, never leaving her side until her death in 2018. He loved camping, dancing, fishing, and always had a project going on. He cherished his many friends at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove Jamboree, and Choestoe Valley RV Park. Mr. Parker passed away Monday, August 24, 2026 at his residence.

Mr. Parker is survived by his daughter, Sharon Parker Howell (Kenneth); a grandson, Robert Brandon Starley; a sister, Carole Parker Doherty (Bobby); a sister-in-law, Linda Estes (Steve); and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the funeral home.
