Georgia Mae Palicka
SCOTT, GA – Georgia Mae Palicka, 75, passed away Saturday January 24, 2025 in Scott, GA.
Services will be held Monday January 26, 2026 in the Scott Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Kite Cemetery.
Mrs. Georgia Mae Palicka, daughter of George Willis and Bertha Mae Scarboro, was born on May 19th, 1950. Georgia grew up in small-town Swainsboro, Georgia, with her three siblings: Charlia, Rita, and Linda. She continued to reside in Swainsboro until around 1980, when she moved to Laurens County.
Georgia Mae gave birth to her son, Michael “Mike” Pernell of Kite, Georgia in 1968 and her daughter, Angie Pernell of Milledgeville, Georgia in 1970. Her children remember her as a fierce and loving mother. Still today, Mike and Angie debate who the favorite child is… but there’s really an obvious answer. Her fur babies, Brandi, Bradon, and Bo were her all-time favorites! So much so that she would call Friendly Gus and specially order them some fried chicken!
By all means, Georgia Mae was known for her spunkiness. She was a woman that done things her way and her way only! But, perhaps you never got the chance to experience that side of her. Maybe you only texted her… inthatcaseyouwouldhaveknownherforthis! And for the people who didn’t see her spunkiness or have the chance to decipher one of her text messages, you would recognize her for her Daisy Dukes! There was no shame in Georgia Mae’s game!
For the past several years, Georgia Mae has been living in Scott, Georgia, at the Scott Nursing Home. Here, you would find her relaxing in her puppy-themed nightgowns, watching the Game Shows. The staff at Scott Nursing Home always knew that they could count on Georgia Mae having them a treat. She wouldn’t let anyone walk out of her room without a handful of Werthner’s Originals. Maybe a canned Coca-Cola if they were really lucky! The staff at Scott acted as more than caretakers for Georgia… they were her family.
Georgia is forever missed by her children, Mike and Angie; grandchildren, Lacey Baker (Matt), Charley Johnson, Daisey Johnson, Amanda Lewis (Drayton); great-grandchildren, Hunter Overstreet, McKinley Canaday, Payton Thomas, John Luke Baker, and Hayden Baker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ron Palicka; her mother and father, Bertha Mae Scarboro and George Willis; her sister, Rita Herrington; and her grandson, Shane Pernell.
The family will receive friends before and after the service.
