JENKINSBURG, GA – Jerry Lamar Carter, 88, of Wells Rd., passed away Tuesday September 1, 2026 in Jenkinsburg, GA.

Services will be held Saturday September 5, 2026 at 1:00PM, at Friendship Baptist Church in Twiggs County. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Danny Young will officiate.

Mr. Carter was born in Twiggs County, GA, the son of the late Colathree Carter and Louise Brewer Carter. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Carter Dent, Rachel Carter Spires, Ethel Carter Shelley, and Rev. Charles Walter Carter. Jerry was a truck driver with the Teamster Local 728-Atlanta, GA for over 60 years .He attended Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 43 ½ years, Peggy Miller Carter. His daughters, Teresa Carter Smith, Rachel Sheila Crump, and Myra Renee Carter. His son, Dennis Gerald (Suzanne) Carter. His stepsons, Chuck Cape, Brian Cape, and Steven Cape. Eight Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00PM to 1:00PM in the Friendship Baptist Church before service
