Judy Payne Holliday DANVILLE - Judy Payne Holliday, 64 , passed away on December 10, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s dementia. She was surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband when she took her final breath. Judy was born on September 29, 1954 in Dublin, Georgia. She graduated from Twiggs Academy and later graduated from Georgia College with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Judy served as a nurse at the Medical Center of Central Georgia and also as a nursing educator at Fairview Park Hospital. Judy was a kind, cheerful, and compassionate woman whose giggle was infectious. She devoted her life to caring for others not only at work but also within the community of Allentown, where she was proudly known as the “town nurse.” In addition to being a nurse, Judy enjoyed shopping, trips to any beach, and baking her infamous sour cream pound cakes. However, her favorite thing to do was to fish and she was quite the angler. She was a long-time member of Allentown United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her parents John Wyatt Payne and Annie Kathryn Payne. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Larry Holliday of Danville; daughter Amy Holliday of Danville; son Cole Holliday (Amanda) of Richmond Hill; beloved grandchildren Acie, Smith, and Eva Kathryn; brother, Johnny Payne of Allentown; Niece, Connie Ward (Joe) of Cochran. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 Thursday December 13, 2018 in the Allentown City Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Alligood and Bro. Buddy Little will officiate.
