Phyllis Kay Payne GORDON – Phyllis Kay Clarke Payne, 78, of Waverly Dr., passed away Wednesday in Macon. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 22, 2021 at 11:00AM at the Gordon United Methodist Church. Rev. Frank Morris and Harold Reece, Jr. will officiate. Mrs. Payne was born in Dublin, GA, the daughter of the late John and Iris Keen Clarke. She was preceded in death by her son Anthony Clarke Payne. Phyllis was the former owner of the Gordon Flower Shop and the Stop-n-Shop convenience store. She was a Gordon City Councilwoman, where she has served for many years. She was a Volunteer with the Coliseum Medical Center and a member of the Gordon Women’s Club. Phyllis was a member of the Gordon United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Cuyler A. Payne. Son, John Stacy (Niccole) Payne. Three Grandchildren, Anthony Clarke Payne II, Aiden Luke Payne, and John Graham Payne. Her sisters, Patricia (Ron) Patrick, and Romie Dell Bostick. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM Saturday before the service in the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hearts & Hands Ministry at the Gordon United Methodist Church 128 S. Main St. Gordon, GA 31031 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Reece Funeral Home in Jeffersonville has charge of arrangements.
