JEFFERSONVILLE – Walter William “Walt” Ashby, 79, of Glover Rd., passed away Thursday July 17, 2025 at his residence.

Services with Masonic Rites will be held Thursday July 24, 2025, at 2:00PM in Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Rev. Bill Bates will officiate.

Mr. Ashby was born in Grundy, Virginia, the son of the late Burley Ashby and Hazel Marie Wirt Ashby. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Overstreet and Barbara Ashby, his brothers Ronnie Ashby and Burley Ashby, Jr.. Walt was very active in many areas of the Masonic Fraternity. He was a Mason for over 55 years. A Past Master of Cool Spring Lodge #185, a member of Richmond Lodge #412, and Past Master of Fickling Lodge #129. “Walt” was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of Al Sihah Shrine. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War and retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. “Walt” was a member of Baptist Gospel Mission.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helga Ashby. His Son Michael Douglas Ashby, His Daughter Helga Loretta Johnson, His Brother James Ashby, His Sister Christine Ashby. Four Grandchildren, Krystal Culver, Kenny Johnson, Douglas Ashby, and Jessica Ashby. Nine Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 in the funeral home before services.
